Another day in Paradise....

Well, hell! It's such a beautiful country, the weather is great, the views are stunning - so what can we do to stuff it up completely? Apart from trying to ensure the extinction of our wildlife heritage, I mean? We're doing quite well at sport (in some areas), the economy could be worse (disregard the major amount of skimming that takes place - especially in the Government), so what else? How about crime stats? Well, THEY are or were coming down in most areas, so we might end up as not being at the head of the table when the new worldwide stats are released & we do like being first!

Soooo, firstly (some time back) we got rid of the Scorpions - their arrest rate & conviction % was rather high. Then we establish the Hawks. Oops! They seem to be a tad over-zealous in some provinces so let's carve them up a bit 'cos some of our best buddies are being targetted (can't have that 'cos they might start talking about the wrong things to the wrong people & then the brown stuff is gonna hit the fan). Oh yeah, what about the Durban Organised Crime Unit? Especially the Kwamashu Violent Crimes Unit, hmm? Now there's a place we can REALLY make a difference! Get rid of them both or at least cut them down to size & voila! Back to the top of the tree again as far as murders, rapes, child abuse, drug trafficking, cash-in-transit heists & just plain old robberies go. and please diregard the fact that the 'evidence' for this action is comming from people who were & are under investigation for criminal activities.

And now in another newspaper report, apparently quoting a senior police officer, it has apparently been noted that since the disbanding of the Kwamashu unit, there has been a notable increase in cash-in-transit & shop based robberies. Go figure, while the ANC spends another bucket of cash on their 100 year celebrations!

  1. Jesus christ, Llew; What do ye do to feel at peace in ye home, in a place like that?

Okay. 'Rhetorical Question'. Because no one with a thought to security would mention their security measures, obviously! ;-)

Hmm. Then again though, I have to ask myself; Would ye feel any more secure back in the old country?

F**king c***s are just taking over, over there.

I honestly can't think of that many places I'd rather not live.

Maybe North Korea? Afghanistan? At a pinch ....

  2. Hey Ditch! Luckily, where we stay in Barrydale (total population about 3000), we have very little crime. However, Durban, where I used to stay & my 2 daughters still stay, is another story. It has become the Mecca for Nigerians, Mozimbicans(?), Zimbabweans etc, etc. Chines have also moved in big time. The reason why it is so close to me is that my son-in-law is or was the head of the Violent Crimes unit. A really dedicated cop, well educated but still only a Captain while we have other plonkers who cannot communicate in English, struggle to count to ten but are now Major-Generals other amazing ranks. Remember Uncle Idi Admin-Dada? Anyway, the poor bugger is now suspended, not that that makes much diff as he appears to have been diagnosed with a lfe threatining bacteria & spends a lot of his time in ICU. The one good part is that it seems that more of the better educated dark people are getting the shits with the way things are going in the country.
Still a good place to sit & drink beer! ;)

  3. Sorry about some spelling mistakes - trying out a wireless keyboard & sometimes not all the keystrokes register or register the wrong letter!

  5. Hopefully a bit of both, Ditch! Thing is, although the powers that be shout & scream about corruption & graft like a broken record, you still hear (more or less on a daily basis) that some official, MP or whatever is being done, investigated & more than likely suspended (on full pay, of course) for some wrong doing. Those that do get jail time are mostly sent up as 'Hero's of the Struggle' & when they come out (after not serving their full sentence)end up with their backsides in the jam! However, this is what the "first world' wanted - a black government -so one must not complain, must one? :D
